Inter-house competitions are held from time to time to inculcate the qualities of leadership, healthy competition, and team spirit in the students. The houses are named after four colors.
The House system has numerous benefits. It is designed to encourage and increase competition between students and to create a supportive environment. Throughout the year, the four houses, The Red Lions, The Blue Unicorns, The Green Stags, and The Yellow Griffins will compete for points for the House Cup at the end of the school year.
The House system has manifold advantages. It provides an increased feeling of identity and belonging, and students develop a sense of tradition and get to take advantage of it. There will be constant encouragement for the students to do their best. As a matter of fact, the positive attitude of students towards one another and towards the school will galvanize.
Each year, new house captains will be selected from the students, and they will be excited about their position and will carry the banner forward for their houses.
Another important benefit is the leadership opportunity this will generate for the students. Each house will have captains who, under teacher guidance, will be entirely in charge of organizing students' participation in special events like Sports Day, Cultural Week, and so on.
Points will be awarded based on the following categories:
Academic
Sports
Spirit
We aim to:
Regular House points sums will be announced on students briefing (Morning lines and assemblies).
The Winner House will be RECOGNISED and CELEBRATED.
Students can contribute to their house point totals in a number of ways both in and out of the classroom. All students are expected to participate in at least one of the many house events/activities.
Students are awarded merits for outstanding effort and achievement.
25 merit = 1 house point.
Students can earn house points for their involvement with different school clubs. They score based on commitment through high attendance, exceptional efforts and outstanding achievement. At the end of each term, teachers sign in either or both the attendance or outstanding achievement box for their students, in order to earn a house point. The teacher then adds their house point.
Students can also earn house points for various achievements, i.e. by being nominated by staff members for showing a positive attitude to school life and its community.
Students can also earn house points if they regularly participate in competitions. They can earn points by showing an active sense of involvement and commitment with extra-curricular opportunities.
Students who achieve 100% attendance in a term or those showing significant improvement receive a house point and are granted a token.
Secondary Students are awarded house points for excellent work in class, consistent effort and submitting assignment on time or making an outstanding improvement.
Total will be calculated each week and displayed in the classrooms. House points/tokens will be awarded.
The students will be also awarded for
Aptitude (Music, Arts, Sports)
Modelling Good Behavior
Manners (Using the Magical Words-Saying Please, thank you, Excuse Me, sorry, holding door open etc.)
